چکیده

Models of real systems are of fundamental importance in virtually all disciplines. Models make possible to predict or simulate a system’s behavior. Since the quality of the model typically determines an upper bound on the quality of the final problem solution, modeling is often the bottleneck in the development of the whole system. As a consequence, a strong demand for advanced modeling and identification schemes arises. In this paper it is shown, via the development of a system for the analysis of the seismic response of rockfill dams, that neurogenetic techniques are a better option than analytically-based procedures in this kind of studies. To buttress this assertion, El Infiernillo dam, which has an ample history of being shaken by a great variety of seismic events, is used to this end. Key-Words: system-identification, modeling, neurogenetic networks, seismic response, soil-dynamic properties, finite element method, rockfill dams

Running a neurogenetic clinic.

The explosion of molecular genetic information over the last 10 years has resulted in a large number of genes being discovered for single gene disorders. Since the majority of the thousands of genes expressed in humans are in the nervous system (central and peripheral nervous systems), it is perhaps unsurprising that mutations in many of the discovered genes cause neurological disease. At prese...

The Particle Filter and Extended Kalman Filter methods for the structural system identification considering various uncertainties

Structural system identification using recursive methods has been a research direction of increasing interest in recent decades. The two prominent methods, including the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and the Particle Filter (PF), also known as the Sequential Monte Carlo (SMC), are advantageous in this field. In this study, the system identification of a shake table test of a 4-story steel struct...

System identification of a beam with frictional contact

The nonlinear system becomes an area with numerous investigations over the past decades. The conventional modal analysis could not be  applied on nonlinear continuous system which makes it impossible to construct the reduced order models and obtain system response based on limited number of measurement points. Nonlinear normal modes provide a useful tool for extending modal analysis to nonlinea...

Model Predictive Control System Design using ARMAX Identification Method for Car-following Behavior

The control of car following is essential due to its safety and its operational efficiency. For this purpose, this paper builds a model of car following behavior based on ARMAX structure from a real traffic dataset and design a Model Predictive Control (MPC) system. Based on the relative distance and relative acceleration of each instant, the MPC predicts the future behavior of the leader vehic...

A New Two-Stage Method for Damage Identification in Linear-Shaped Structures Via Grey System Theory and Optimization Algorithm

The main objective of this paper is concentrated on presenting a new two-stage method for damage localization and quantification in the linear-shaped structures. A linear-shaped structure is defined as a structure in which all elements are arranged only on a straight line. At the first stage, by employing Grey System Theory (GST) and diagonal members of the Generalized Flexibility Matrix (GFM),...
